My indoor cat has very silky hair and often vomits after

Customer Question

My indoor cat has very silky long hair and often vomits after eating. I have given him oral doses of a flavored oral lubricant with a petroleum jelly base. He hates the taste. Is it OK to just put Vaseline on his paws so he can lick it off? If so, how much should I give him?

Yes, after all, Vaseline is just unflavored petrolatum. You would give the equivalent volume of the Vaseline as what you would administer of the hair ball remedy. It's unlikely to overdose such a product or Vaseline. These are lubricating laxatives and giving too much might result in transient loose stool but not toxicity. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
