Customer Question

We have a male cat about 1.5 years old. He seemed to be his normal self until this evening when we noticed his tail was wet. There is a clear mucous like liquid dripping from his anus. He only took one bite of wet food at dinner. He doesn't seem too distressed but is not as active as usual. I just placed him in the litter box and he squirted out mucous and two very small kernels of feces.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner, but can you tell me:

Has he been passing normal urine?

Any straining?

Any tensing, pain, or discomfort if you press on his belly (especially back towards his back legs)?

Any vomiting, retching, gagging, or lip licking?
