Customer Question

I have a five month old kitten. When I got her almost three months ago, she was already spayed and had her shots. The vet said she was healthy. But two days ago, she quit basically playing with the other cats. All she wants to do is sleep, drink water, and will eat very little. U can tell by looking at her that she don't feel good. She is an indoor cat only.

Prada's symptoms of somnolence and inappetence are important but not pathognomonic (specifically indicative) of any one disorder. At this time we need to determine the urgency of these symptoms and so I need you to do a few things for me. Please check her gums and tongue. They should be nicely pink - not whitish (anemia) or bluish-greyish (cyanosis/lack of oxygen to her tissues). Please assess her respiratory rate at rest. She should be taking less than 40 breaths/minute. Finally, please take her rectal temperature. Any body thermometer will do placed 1" into her rectum for 1 minute. Normal is 100.5-102.5F. This procedure should be a two person job!

Please respond with the additional information and further questions or concerns if you wish.
