Yesterday I brought my 4 month old kitten to the vet first

Customer Question

Hi guys. Yesterday I brought my 4 month old kitten to the vet for her first checkup after taking her home from a shelter. The vet gave her a first dose of Pyrantel Suspension - 50 MG. The vet sent me home with three more doses. Unfortunately, I didn't read the directions closely enough and gave her another dose this evening, when the next dose should have been 9/7. I feel so badly. Is this something that could harm her? Thank you!

Please don't be alarmed. Pyrantel has a wide range of safety and dosing recommendations for cats varies considerably. I would be surprised if you saw any adverse effect at all although a bit of GI distress is always possible - inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea - all of which are expected to be transient. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
