Loss of voice in cats is usually related to laryngitis due to the feline herpesvirus (FHV-1) or the bacterium Bordetella bronchiseptica. These infections often remiss within 1-3 weeks. I'm concerned that Pita is an older cat, however, and so her loss of voice and wheezing may indicate an obstruction in her upper respiratory tract such as might occur with a tumor in her oropharynx (back of her throat) or larynx. These same symptoms may also be seen in asthmatic cats and so if she has a history of coughing over her lifetime, asthma becomes an important differential diagnosis as well. I'd be more comfortable knowing that Pita's vet was going to take a look at her rather than "watchful waiting" for an infection to abate. Her vet should take a good into Pita's oral cavity and down her throat, listen carefully to her heart and lungs, and then advise how to proceed.
