Customer Question

my cat has scaley patches that itch. He has been treated for this at his vet previously, and will be going on Monday. The treatment has been cortisone shots. Between now and then, is it OK to apply human neosporin or benadryl ?

Hello my name is***** and I am a licensed veterinarian. I am hoping to help you answer your question regarding your cat's scaley patches. Neosporin should be fine to apply to those patches as long as your cat will not lick it off once you apply them. As far as the Benadryl are you taking about a topical form or oral form? I don't recommend the oral form of benadryl in cats because they seem extremely sensitive to the drug when compared to dogs. They are more likely to experience side effects from it.
