Customer Question

My Russian blue cat is 8 years old . About a year ago he started making "quacking" sounds. We took him to the vet. They gave him a steroid shot. The condition went away but recurred about a month and a half later. This process was repeated and now the steroid shots do not work at all. The vet diagnosed him with Bronchial Pneumonia. We were given anti bio tics which we gave him but the condition continued. We were then prescribed Atopica . This has not worked either. We were then prescribed Pro Air HFA Tev. and a breathing apparatus like an inhaler. This has not worked either. I have noticed a huge difference in his energy level the past 3 months. I have also noticed he was hiding under the bed and not eating, however recently he has come out but when I offer him his snacks which he always devours has not eaten them He acts like he wants to eat but I notice he looks like he has a hard time swallowing, The vet said his bronchial tube is narrowed and gets inflamed due to being asthmatic. We are taking him to a specialist on thursday. After nearly spending 4K Its been quite tough on us . I love my cat. I dont know what to do. My question is ...Is there a cure? or do we just have to manage the symptoms and what is his quality of life? What other options do we have? He still sleeps with me every night but he just sounds so awful . Thank You for your Response....Clydes dad Rob

I am sorry that you have been waiting for a response. I recently just logged onto the site and noted that your question hasn't yet been answered. I am a licensed veterinarian with over 25 years’ experience and would be happy work with you if you are still needing assistance.
Can you tell me what kind of diagnostics were performed? Did Clyde have a bronchial scoping performed?
Thanks and I will respond further after you reply. There may be a slight delay while I formulate and type a thorough response or I may be offline, but if so, I will respond as soon as I am able.
