Customer Question

My 11 year old cat just had vaccination about 3 hours ago. She is now in distress, panting, twitching, can't sit still, tried to get her into the car and she gets worse. Can i give her benadryl???

I am sorry to hear you are worried about your cat. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

You can give Benedryl, 5 to 10 mg, to cats.

Can you take her temperature? Normal rectal temp is 101 to 102.

If you look at her gums, are they pink in color, or do her gums look pale?

Usually for vaccine reactions, I give a cat steroids like dexamethasone or prednisolone, but you would need a veterinarian to get steroids.
