Is the fountain grass pennisetum fireworks harmful to cats?

Customer Question

Is the fountain grass pennisetum fireworks harmful to cats? My cats have been chewing on them and so far seem fine, but I'm worried. I'd rather loose the pennisetum than my cats!

Yes, fountain grass - in fact, all of the grasses are listed as non-toxic to our dogs and cats. You might see transient gastrointestinal distress - inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea - from ingesting such a "food" but not toxicity. When my cats have a hankering for nondigestible greens, I grow "pet greens" which you can find in pet/feed stores for them in an attempt to stop their grazing outside.
