My cat who is six years old was lying down and suddenly jumped

Customer Question

My cat who is six years old was lying down and suddenly jumped up. He had difficulty walking. He was favoring his left leg. After a few minutes, he was able to walk without any problem.

Aloha! You're speaking with Dr. Michael Salkin
I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. It would be unlikely that anything serious is going on with Raphael's leg if his favoring of his left leg disappeared so quickly and hasn't returned. Perhaps he suffered a muscular cramp? Perhaps he was bitten by an ant or flea?
There's no reason to have his vet take a look at him unless this behavior repeated itself. If so, his vet would carefully examine the leg from hip to toe and perform flexion and extension tests on each joint in that leg. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
