12 year old male red tabby not eating or drinking as usual.

Customer Question

12 year old male red tabby not eating or drinking as usual. Behavior has slowed down. For an indoor cat, he is usually very curious and active. Still purrs, still uses litter pan (but with decreased production), no change in his behavior toward me. This has been going on for about two weeks. ?????

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.
Would you say he is eating half what he usually would? More? Less?
Any vomiting, retching, gagging, hard swallowing, or lip licking?
Any drooling, grinding his teeth or pawing at his mouth?
Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?
If you press on his belly, does he have any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?
Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, string, plants, chemicals, etc)?
Has he had any diarrhea?
