I have a 1 year old kitty, Graham. Looking for some
Looking for some suggestions: Graham is 1. I took him in Monday - he had a terrible episode of vomiting over the weekend. It began with a large hairball and escalated to bile. He was given fluids, cerenia, famotadine and gas x. Wednesday he had an episode of nausea - he was inconsolable. He was dehydrated and hospitalized. X-rays were fine, as was bloodwork; Pancreatitis test came back negative. He broke out in pustules on his face. He was given IV fluids all day, cerenia, famotadine, 2 antibiotics and covenia. He was eating and drinking. Saturday he vomited a 6" hairball followed by multiple bile episodes. I took him in, he had a low grade fever and his skin was splotchy and he had hives. He was hospitalized again. They ran more bloodwork (all came back normal), ultrasound and x-rays (didn't indicate an obstruction - alrhough poop and hairballs look alike in imaging). He had another day of IV fluids, anti-nausea meds, antibiotics and benadryl. Since he was released from the hospital, he has kept food down and is resting. If he has another round of vomiting, they recommend exploratory surgery as it's possible his GI tract is full of hair. I want to keep him from gromming himself (and Diddle); he hates being in the cone and cries when I try it. I just want him to get better. Anyone have experience with anything like this? Any insights or ideas? Thank you! … read more
