Hi there,

Is your cat an indoor only cat or does he go outside?

Is there an area where the scabs are the most?

Hind end? front?

Hi, indoor cat only, scabs all over her, not ringworm, more like little "scabs", like maybe a sore that has scabbed over, that type of look to them, but there have been no actual sores seen, just the "scabs" not in any on area, all over

Hi there,

What you describe can actually be caused by several underlying diseases:

1) Fleas or a flea allergy - It is important that your cat is on flea prevention, as although you may not see fleas...there are times when 1 flea bite can cause a cat that has a hypersensitivity to be very allergic.

2) Another possibility is infectious causes such as "mange".

There are 2 different diseases that people use the term "mange" for:

Sarcoptic Mange:

http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_sarcoptic_mange.html

Demodectic Mange:

http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_demodectic_mange.html

Finally - even food allergies can cause scratching that can lead to secondary infections and scabs. If the problem persists - you may want to discuss special hypoallergenic foods with your veterinarian such as novel protein or hydrolyzed protein diets.

For now - It is recommended to consult with your veterinarian. They can do certain skin tests and scraping to see if an underlying mite, fungus, or bacterial infection is present (with or without an allergy) as specific medication may be needed.

I hope this information and the links above are helpful for you!
