Is Biomox safe to use for cats My male cat was perscribed

Resolved Question:

Is Biomox safe to use for cats? My male cat was perscribed Biomox twice a day by the vet for a bladder infection. When I got home from the vet I noticed that the box said "for use in dogs only". When I called the vets office to inquire if I got the wrong medicine, I was told that it's the same thing as Amoxi-Drops and that it's fine to use for cats. Is this true?

Biomox is a trade name, the drug name isXXXXX it's safe for the use in cats. Amoxicillin is approved in cats but the company that makes Biomox may have only gotten the product approved in dogs, so they had to put the label on it. This happens a lot with veterinary meds as it can get expensive to get they labeled for dogs and cats.

I wouldn't worry about the label, it's more of a legal requirement.

I hope that helps ease your mind.
