This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
If your kidney function is normal, and serum potassium in normal range, then you do not need to change your diet.
Losartan will not cause any significant increase in potassium in normal individuals.
Kidney will eliminate excess potassium as they do normally.
You can take magnesium supplement as well.
But the magnesium level should be checked to prevent any excess.
After starting on losartan, blood tests measuring serum potassium and creatinine levels are recommended after 2 weeks.
It was my pleasure to help you today.
