Does drinking too much caffeinated soda cause heart problems

Customer Question

Does drinking too much caffeinated soda cause heart problems or feelings like I'm about to have a heart attack?

Caffeine, of any source, is stimulant and irritant to the heart. It does elevate the heart rate and blood pressure, and could induce heart arrhythmia, particularly if ingested excessively by a person with an underlaying heart condition. When consumed in moderation in a person with healthy heart, it is generally well tolerated.

You feel like you are having a heart attack: what exactly do you feel? Are you having chest pain or discomfort? Do you feel your heart racing ? any lightheadedness or dizziness ?
