Suddenly my heart rate jumps from a normal 65 BPM to over

Customer Question

Suddenly my heart rate jumps from a normal 65 BPM to over 200 BPM. My heart feels like its in my throat. My pressure sinks to almost nothing, I get very weak, my head hurts and there is pain in both my back and chest. It all subsides in about 2 hours. I'm 65 years old.

Thanks for this question.

This is very concerning.

You need to get your doctor to order a holter monitor. This is a 24 hour wearable EKG that can identify what heart rhythm you are having when this happens

It can be treated either with meds or with a procedure called an ablation where they burn out the abnormal circuit in the heart
