Phil My daughter has a history of annual hospitalizations

Customer Question

Hi Dr Phil My daughter has a history of annual hospitalizations for vomiting/dehydration. Usually there is a constipation component. She was in the ER 10 days ago for IV fluids after 2 days of nonstop vomiting. Then she was fine all week. Yesterday she
started vomiting again and told me she had not had a vowel movement since her last hospital stay (9 days ago). Her pediatrician had me give her annenema and it didn't really work, then this morning we were back in the ER - again no bowel movement and nonstop
vomiting. This time they did not give her any IV fluids but did an abdominal X-ray. They sent her home but I am concerned because she is not any better. The xray just showed a lot of poop in her colon. Would they have been able to tell if she had an obstruction?
What do you think is wrong with her?

I am just worried her vowel is going to perforate. She hasn't had a bowel movement in 9 days - I'm worried
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 2 years ago.
Don't worry
I think you are transferring your anxiety to your daughter too
that is not good
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok. It's hard not to worry though. I hope
The magnesium citrate works.....
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 2 years ago.
If not, ask about linzess. It works wonders
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok I definitely will.
How fast should the mag citrate work. She had a 10 ounce bottle today and still no bowel movement.
How long can she handle not having a bowel movement? Tomorrow will be 10 days and the only reason she's not still vomiting is because she had 2 doses of zofran today.....
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 2 years ago.
It should work within 24 hours

She had a watery movement this morning but that is it. Does that count? The pediatrician is telling me to do another enema but this will be the third in 3 days....

She might have an impaction that needs to be removed manually
