Looking at buying a 2007 pacifica with the 4.0L seller says it has a misfire

Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the car? Is it a steady misfire? Or random?

170000 and he says it runs on 5 of the 6 cyl. codes are P0301 and P2302

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Pacifica yourself? What have you tried so far?

I have not looked at it yet. If it is coil pack replacement that is easy for me

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Not sure

is this common on chrysler 4.0L for 2007?
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
Or are these motors notorious for other problems, such as blown head gaskets/over heating, throwing rods, etc.

there's no bulletins on it being a chronic problem just for the Pacifica. these kind of codes are common on all mid-2000 Chryslers

Ask Your Own Car Question

no, the 4.0 is a decent motor.

may I ask if chrysler transmissions are better by 2007? This one is awd. I quit buying town and country's by 2003 after each one dropping a trans.

they are known for developing harsh shifts. which end up being the torque converter. or a reprogramming of the transmission control module

Ask Your Own Car Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
Any way of preventing that hard shift issue such as a trans. filter change and fluid change? NO power flushing for me. Ruined one trans that only had 53k on it.

there's no way of preventing it other than keeping up with the service intervals in the back of the owners manual, and, If you want my honest opinion. being in the business for over 30 years. I would not buy any Chrysler product unless it was newer than 2014.

That has been my sentiment also. Just figured they would build quality at some point. Had several old mopars from the 60's and they were fun. Mopar at heart but all the ones I have had since the mid 80s have broke my heart.

and millions more hearts.........
