This answer was rated:

The emergency break light went on on my sedan Deville while driving. It will not release either driving or parked. The brakes are burning. How do I release the emergent brake?
JA: Have you checked the brake fluid? How's the level and when was it last changed?
Customer: Hold on a second. Checking the level now.
JA: What year is your DeVille?
Customer: 1995
JA: Are you fixing your DeVille yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes because I need to drive it tonight.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: hold on a second and I will tell you the brake fluid level.

Have you tried unlocking it manually located on the pedal? Seems like the vacuum switch failed on you

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
The emergency brake will not release.

ok so it will not release manually? from the pedal

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
The pedal is pushed all the way to the floor. Pumping it with the foot does;t release it.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
doesn't release it

ok, but you can unlock it manually on the mechanism of the e pedal. it is a little arm where the e brake cable attaches to it

look under the dash, locate the park emergency brake pedal assembly and move the hidden lever up or down located on the pedal

ok hold on

Mike that world. Thank you!! What should i watch out for now?
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
that worked!! not world - these spell checkers say the darndest things.

No problem! I believe the actual problem is the vacuum switch, its suppose to automatically disengage the e brake when you put it in drive. If you want to go without it you can, but would have to manually unlock the pedal again.
