My check engine light has come on and the car is hesitating,

Customer Question

My check engine light has come on and the car is hesitating, I smell the "lacquer smell" - My car is poorly performing. I had someone to replace the three spark plugs under the plenum and proportedly replaced the intake gasket but I suspect the intake seal wasn't done correctly- thus the check engine light came on. Not fully assured with the make and model- I have decided to replace the oxygen sensor (?2 upstream (heated) and downstream??) and replace the intake gasket again. I have given thought about the MAF sensor and the fuel filter as well.
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?

JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: 1999 Merc. sable
JA: Are you fixing your Sable yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No- but will order the parts- I had it run on the computer
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: P codes: PO174-1151-0171- 0304 and 0305
