all of a sudden it wont turn over how do you get the starter out with out taking of exhaust
JA: How many miles are on the car? How has your mileage been lately?
Customer: 146000 car ran great
JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: 1990 560 sel
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes and I tried to jump the starter got spark but still does not turn over
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

HI,

560SEC, SEL & SL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect starter electrical connectors.
3. Loosen starter to transmission attaching bolts.
4. Turn steering wheel in clockwise direction.
5. Remove starter attaching bolts, then remove in downward direction.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Torque starter attaching screws to 41 ft. lbs.

do you have to drop the exhaust down to get the starter off

Turning the steering wheel all the way to the right will give enough room to drop the starter out

do you need a special tool to get the top bolt no room at all

swivel socket and extensions to get it from an angle
