Just tonight while trying to leave work I started up my car

Customer Question

Hello, just tonight while trying to leave work I started up my car and tried to shift it out of park. However, the gear stick wouldn't shift out of park at all and the ABS warning light appeared.
JA: Is it just the ABS light? Or is the brake system warning light on, too?
Customer: Just the ABS light. I double checked my emergency brake and that was okay as well.
JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: Here is where it might get tricky--- I have a 2008 FRTWO Smart car
JA: Are you fixing your Fortwo yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I'm not experienced at all with cars, so until I got home by other means, I didn't really know where to start with it, so it's still safely parked at my workplace.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I'll be unavailable due to work from 3pm onwards tomorrow. Besides that, I'm not sure what else.

Upon talking it over with a friend of mine and doing some more research on my own, I decided that we'll hold off on an appointment for now, check the car in the morning and go from there, see if it wasn't just the sensor being dirty or something small like that.
