I have a 1993 ford f150 5.0, its the speed density

Customer Question

I have a 1993 ford f150 5.0, its the speed density version...Im getting 30-32 lbs of pressure from the rear fuel pump and 40 lbs from the front pump and when it starts, the check engine light comes on and it runs weak and when the accelerator is pressed it pops then kills
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: stays on also the fuel pressure regulator isnt leaking
JA: Are you fixing your F150 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: ive tested the module and it tested good I just popped in a new distrubutor thinking it may have pick up coil issues
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: now it wont start at all with the new distrubutor

Have you tried to disconnect the electrical connector to the MAP sensor up near firewall? It has a vacuum line going to it with electrical connector.

Expert:  Jaybird61 replied 6 months ago.

Do you know if you have spark from coil?

Many thanks and will do
Expert:  Jaybird61 replied 6 months ago.

Thanks. Talk to you tomorrow if you try the MAP sensor disconnect to see if it runs.

Expert:  Jaybird61 replied 6 months ago.

Did disconnecting the MAP sensor allow it to start? If it did then replace the MAP sensor and run engine to reset the ignition timing to 10 degrees BTDC with spout wire disconnected.
