IF they just have to go in and reset the part where the pawls engage and adjust the linkage around 1-2 hours. If the other side of the pawl where it engages to the ratchet of the shift drum is bad and the case has to be split you're looking at 6-8 hours.

Usually it's the two pieces where the "fingers" come together that go out of alignment due to wear. I spring can be used to tighted up the "finger part" by placing the spring betiween the shaft and side cover.
