2005 STS kicks hard into drive when sitting from park. No

Customer Question

2005 STS kicks hard into drive when sitting from park. No engine lights or transmission lights displaying: what do you think this is? also when I hit the gas for fast acceleration the check engine light goes on and off intermittently, is this normal?

No, it is definitely not normal. You need to have the car scanned for codes. Even though the light doesn't stay on there will still be codes set in the computer. The two symptoms may also be related. For instance, if the transmission is slipping on acceleration it can cause both engine and transmission codes, then the computer will boost transmission pressure and cause it to shift hard. Best first step is to get a code scan, then follow up with the recommended diagnosis.
