The problem could be sticking tumblers, a worn key or pressure on the steering wheel. Have you tried moving the steering wheel while trying to turn the key? If that's not working have you tried shaking the key up and down while also trying to turn it?
Ok. Try to jiggle the key while trying to turn it. We get cars towed in constantly with this symptom and we are almost always able to get the key to turn like that. Sometimes it takes a good while but it will usually turn. When it's due to sticky tumblers, some wd40 works great to get the tumblers to loosen up. I am curious, has this been an issue in the past? or is this the first time it has happened?
Ok. Have you tried another key (if you have one)?
If you have another key, try that first. If it's still not turning with the other key then we know that the problem is with the lock cylinder and not the key. Either the steering wheel is keeping it from turning with pressure, or a tumbler is sticking (most likely). Try to Spray a little wd40 or another penetrating oil on your key and keep inserting the key, jiggling, etc.
Any luck getting the key to turn?
