Going through coolant super quick, around 1L 40/50km drive.

Customer Question

Hi - going through coolant super quick, around 1L for a 40/50km drive. Pressure test ok too. White smoke at start of drive, clears pretty soon, and a little what looked like oil dripped out of exhaust when revving/warming up to work coolant through last night. First time I've seen that. Engine oil colour fine, coolant colour fine. Worth even looking at thermostat or go straight for head gasket? Could faulty injectors or injector seals also be a possibility? It's a 2002 diesel Jackaroo - 4JX1!

Hi there,

4JX1 is known for injector sleeves leaking coolant.

The injectors need to come out, to allow the sleeve removal.

Preferably a job for a Holden tech who has done this type of job.

Replace all o-rings , I would also replace the rail pressure sensor and injector harness if there is oil at the harness connector, near the dipstick tube.
