Nissain Fronteir: Okay, so I installed a 4 cylinder oil filter

Customer Question

Okay, so I installed a 4 cylinder oil filter (2.4 liter) on a 6 cylinder (4.0 liter). Threads line up, gasket is the same- no leaks, but; I would assume this could cause higher pressure....? What are the risks?

hi, this wont cause higher oil pressure .
why did you put that filter on the car ?
I assume that the 6 cylinder filter is taller than the 4 cylinder ?
the 6 cylinder oil filter will hold more oil than the 4 cylinder from what I see as far as the length of the filter but that is all it does .
I wouldnt really want to take a chance on the wrong filter though and would suggest to have the right one on the motor
according to what I read is that filter doesnt fit the vehicle and even though it screws on and the gasket looks the same I wouldnt take a chance ...jazzmaster ..
