!947 jeep cj2A. Stalled on the hwy after refueling. Spark plugs were very black, and carb bowl had some dirt in the bottom. Changed plugs and cleaned the top of the carb, including jets. Starts, but very doggy under load. I thing we should check quality of spark. What would you do?
Hi there - If the plugs are black, this may indicate super rich running. Have you replaced the float in the carb? Any black smoke out the tail pipe? If you want to check the spark, sure. Get a test spark plug from an auto parts store. Look for a nice blue spark. Had a look at the points lately, or does it have some type of upgraded ignition? Canuck

Plugs were sooty, and exhaust did look a bit dark. The float had no fuel in it, seemed OK. Will check spark, coil, points tomorrow, thanks, XXXXX XXXXX back to you, and let you know what we find, thanks
