Enormandie :

Hi. Backing into something and hitting a sensor can cause it to not work. Also I have seen them fail for no reason in particular. But if only 1 sensor fails, then the whole backup system is disabled. Thanks, Eric

Customer:

Hello and Welcome to Justanswer,

My name is XXXXX XXXXX I am here to try and assist your with your question

what causes it to fail is you have a bad sensor in the bumper causing this concern. The reason it fails it is a electronic sensor and they just fail every know and then. To fix your concern you need to pull codes from the computer that controls the backup system with a special tester from the dealer. To see which sensor is bad. Replace the bad sensor and will be good.
