The startter is not ingaging , but the timming belt is turnning

2001 deawoo my timming tent pullie broke and I eplaced it and now all it sounds like is that the startter is not ingaging , but the timming belt is turnning is there a way to get it back in time?

- which pulley broke (is is the crankshaft pulley....where the drive belt is fitted)?

Billy :

- starter not engaging....means that engine is not turning....is it turning or not?

- when the pulley broke, did the belt remain intact?

- did you check the timing marks?

the pully that boke was the small on on the left side just below the two big ones.

the belt did not brake

and i have no idia about the makes where ar they at and how do i see if they are in line?
