Grand Vitara: Hey Dave,I just asked you a question

This answer was rated:

Hey Dave,

I just asked you a question about the Grand Vitara. However, the car is actually a 2003 XL-7. Does the information you gave still apply?

If so, would you please provide the part number / instructions for changing the regulator on this vehicle?

Thanks,
Ramin
For the XL-7 the part # XXXXX(NNN) NNN-NNNN

Service procedure is the same.

Would it be easer to replace just the motor instead of the entire motor/regulator assembly? Which would allow for easier installation?

If I were to change just the motor, which of the following should I use?

The 42-182 is the one you need. It fits the drivers side. The other fits the passenger side. The regulator still has to come out to replace the motor. Once the regulator is out, unbolt the motor from the regulator. The benefit to replacing just the motor is the cost savings. The motor with regulator costs $450 from the dealer.
