I have tried what you suggest and the only thing that it does is reset the mileage to 0. It does not reset the service indicator.

That is the factory procedure to reset the service indicator, (not really my suggestion) but if the indicator doesn't flash after the key has been turned off and then the button pressed and the key turned back on within the allotted time frame, then there may be a problem in the I/P cluster assembly. I haven't run into that type of problem but there may be someone here who has. Let me know and I can open the question back up, thanks

I think that I may just have to break down and take the car to the dealer (60 miles away)
