drive train..torque..However the reverse does not work...forward gears

Customer Question

We recently installed a used transmission from a wrecked vehicle assuming the drive train would still be good and used the old torque coventer. However the reverse does not work. All forward gears are fine. Sounds as it is trying to go into reverse but it does'nt.
What could possible be the problem other than a defective transmission?
