Dead battery..A quick jump with cables gets it going..engage..lever

Resolved Question:

We have a 06 LandRover LR3 and recently, it's had a dead battery. A quick jump with cables gets it going, but now it's 5'F and one can not engage the gearshift whatsoever. It won't leave park - our owner's manual depicts a way to disengage it by removing a gearshift panel but we've tried that and can not find a lever depicted on either side. Any ideas are appreciated. Has anyone experienced? many thanks.

Yes this is caused by a faulty brake light switch above the brake pedal. You will need to replace the brake light switch to fix this issue. Hoped this helped.Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.

I appreciate the reply however that wasn't it. Turns out that even though battery tester read "marginal" as a bad battery, changing the battery solved everything. Once changed, gearshift, warning messages, it's operating terrific.
