I recently bought a Proton Jumbuck, 2006 model, 35000kms, manual. Put cheap fuel into it, instaed of premium, now the check engine light is on. Should it matter what fuel I run it on ?
That engine does not require premium fuel so it should not have caused a problem. Have the codes checked and that will tell you why the light is on. The most common cause for a check engine light is a loose gas cap and even after the cap is tightened it will stay on for a couple of days. A parts store will probably check your codes for free.
