A 98 p38 4.6 when i start it its reving..iac valve..proceedure

hi,ok ive got a 98 p38 4.6 when i start it its reving to approx 3000revs i think its the iac it came to pieces when i took it out,is there a set proceedure to reasemble and then fit it.cheerz andy

The IAC valve doesn't or shouldn't come apart if its in 2 pieces its likely that the threaded portion has snapped off from the main body as they aren't very strong and are easily overtightened.

They are notorious for sticking and washing them through with brake cleaner generally does the trick in freeing them off - however it sounds like yours will have to be replaced

I have repaired them in the past with some JB weld adhesive ( a sort of turbocharged araldite ) and then very carefully tightened back in place.
