A button popped out on...
A button popped out on the a/c line which connects to my compressor. I took it to a mechanic and they said the system was overcharged. They evac/charged the system. The next day it popped out again. This time the mechanic said it's probably a bad valve and needs to be replaced if they can locate the part. If there is too much pressure on the high side, what could be the problem? I admit that I might have overcharged the system when I replaced the compressor with a used compressor.

Hi,

A restriction in the system can cause a buildup on the high side. Other reasons for the pressure relieve valve popping off is a faulty valve(very possible considering this is a used compressor), or faulty compressor(also possible since it is used).

Once the valve is replaced, the pressures need to be checked- both high and low side, in order to determine if there is an overcharge, a restriction, or bad compressor. This cannot be determined with just low pressure readings. both high and low are required for this
