problem to go to neutral from 5th or 6th gear must push gear lever to neutral. dealers checked selecters and cables all fine.
Good morningCustomer Want to make sure I have this right....You have to shift to neutral BEFORE you can shift into 5 or 6 gear? also is there any grinding when shifting? Finally do all other shifts (1234) occur smoothly? ..Thanks...jeffrey590

Hi Jeffrey

if car is in neutral and you push it to the sides say maybe to left and right it has a spring returning it to the middle but in 5th or 6th it don't return to middle if taken to neutral it is if it stay there and must be pushed to middle.

OK....Thanks for the info...Sounds like the shifter centering spring is broken inside the transmission...Have the repair shop disconnect the shifter from the gearbox and try the shift rod by hand as you described left and right...if the spring load doesnt work to neutral this way,the problem is the centering spring in the transmission...jeffrey590
