1994 Olds 98 Regency: climate control..Passenger side blows cold air

This answer was rated:

Hello, this is a question about a 1994 Olds 98 Regency with auto climate control. Passenger side blows cold air on all levels at all temperatures. This was my Mom's car and was garaged and well cared for for 16 years; only 37K miiles on it. Any ideas?
Hello, the HVAC system usues 2 small plastic electric motors called actuators. they mount on the HVAC case. They have been known to fail OR the gear become stripped on the end so it may work but will not move the blend door. In your vehicle the actuator is mounted on the right side of the case, up under/behind the dash. See below: It has a small rod that then connects to the blend door. ( this actuator is for passenger) You need to see if you can remove the under dash pane. remove glovebox and get to the actuator. be sure the rod is connected. the clips do break holding it. if it is all hooked up, work the controls while watching it and see if it moves. if it does move all the way end-end then the problem os within the HVAC and blend door. I suspect it will not move OR the gear is stripped. Due to age of vehicle information is limited about how to service this actuator. You will have to locate it by the pic below. It may very well need a new actuator motor.
