1992 Mazda 626: reving engine (rpm..rev..Check Engine back

Customer Question

My 1992 Mazda 626 has a reving engine (RPM's) problem and can shut down at a red light or in mixed speed heavy traffic any time, car can rev up and down violently when at idle also; is this an Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor replacement fix and/or a Idle speed Control (ISC) Valve replacement fix?

Also the Check Engine Light is almost always on, is this related to above problem? Is it also electrically related, I knowthey fooled around with wiring on this car back when it was new from original owner.

First thing man, it will really help us if you take your vehilce to the nearest auto parts store and have them check the fault codes for (free) I need to know what the check engine light is telling us.

Other questions is this engine (carbeurated) or (fuel injiected) and is it a (turbo) ?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

I t is fuel injected, NON-Turbo 4 cylinder;

You never had ithis vehicle checked for fault codes? That would really help if I knew what the fault CODE/S are...
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Unfortunately no, I will have to wait until 12/01 to do that, it is late now
Expert:  Terry S. Trent replied 7 years ago.

Do you mind? Without that information it only gives me a (W/O CODES) without codes symptom chart and (W/Codes) with codes it will give us exact testing procedures. I really need to know exactly what we are dealing with especialy if they messed with the wiring.

We really need to know the (Fault Codes)...

Take a look at some of the possible causes for (fast idle speed) for example.

I will hopefully get the exact fault codes tomorrow
