Alero: cylinder..It has been overheating and using fluid..replacing

Customer Question

I have a 2003 4 cylinder Alero. It has been overheating and using fluid. I was thinking about replacing the thermostat first and then going from there. It has 86,000 miles on it. I can't find the thermostat housing-does it even have one?

Yes it does it is not a easy one to change, the exhaust manifold needs to be remove to access the thermostat housing it is just below that.

Tip, When you have the feed pipe off make sure you check the water pump impeller make sure that you can not turn it by hand. the factory water pump impeller is plastic and can brake off the hub shaft
