running fine the first day.

Customer Question

I just purchased a 1999 360. It was running fine the first day. Then on the second day, I pushed some buttoms while I was driving the car. I parked the car, turned off the engine, and when I returned in 1 hour, the car would not start. A freind of mine, did something, and I was able to start the car... said reset something. I proceeded to another distanation parked, returned in 30 min., the car started with no problem, proceeded to my next distination, parked, returned and was unable to start the car again. Unfortunately, I am not able to reach my friend. Please, help.

Sorry this took so long. Are you still having difficulties?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Yes, I have not done anything, waiting for response with possible solution.

Ok, good. The first thing I'd like to know is your exact starting procedure when the car is acting up.
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Enable Alarm

Disable Alarm

Car in N

Foot on break

Turn ignition to position II for system check

Turn ignition to III to start.

And that, sir, is exactly how you should do it.

Without having the car right in front of me to check:
-start signal out of ignition switch
-alarm deactivation
-gear position
-clutch position
-brake switch is truly impossible to diagnose this, as the car is pretty complicated, and in a number of cases, will require the Ferrari factory scan tool to perform some of these checks.

So with that, I'm not going to ask that you click the accept button, but at least I've given you a couple of ideas of where the problem may lie.
