1996 Oldsmobile Achieva: park..the brake light switch and the shifter

Customer Question

I have a 1996 Oldsmobile Achieva and I cannot get it out of park. I have replaced the brake light switch and the shifter with switch. The brake lights work. I checked the electrical connector at the shifter switch and found one pin positive and the other 5 pins were dead. What do I need to check now?

Thanks for using JustAnswer.
My name is Vladimir.
I have prepared a wiring diagram for you.
Use a test light to check all the 5 wires at the shifter switch connector.
You should determine what is missing, then trace the circuit down to find the problem.
