Saturn: is having trouble stalling when you pull it into gear, the rpm

Resolved Question:

My Saturn is having trouble stalling when you pull it into gear, the rpm's seem to be allright and then it wants to die. If you pull it back out of gear before it dies the rpm's shoot up to about 3200, any ideas?

Hello and thank you for using just answer. What kind of saturn is this? A SL or a SL2? If not sure then open the hood, it the top of the egine a black plastic cover or a silver aluminum cover?

How many miles are on the car?

Is the check engine light on?

Once the car runs for a while does it clear up or have you not run the car long enought to tell?

THank you for the reply. This would be best if you connected a scan tool to check the codes, if you don't have access to one then consider an auto parts store, most now offer a free code check, rent scanners cheaply or sell them starting around $40.

You need to check for vaccum leaks around the intake manifold, the pcv hose area and throttle body.

Most likely you have a sticking idle control issue here or more commonly the coolant temperature sensor has a crank in it and is sending false signal to the ECM resulting in fuel mixture issues and your symptoms.
