2005 mercury montego: cold start..rough..stall..the car runs great

Resolved Question:

2005 mercury montego has an issue on cold start. The car runs extremely rough and wants to stall for the first 15 seconds and then it is fine. It only does this on cold starts otherwise the car runs great. Just had it tuned up with new plugs. Any thoughts?

Hi, A very common problem on your model car is a sticking IAC valve{idle air control}. You can try removing the valve,it is mounted on the throttle body by 2 8mm cap screws.Spray into the holes on the backside using throttle body cleaner spray ,and clean the inside of the throttle body, and throttle plate using an old tooth brush and the spray solvent. If it doesn't help,or the problem reoccurs, replace the IAC valve. Here are some pictures of the items I have mentioned.
