1998 buick lesabre: turn signals..tail lights out,brake lights..blow

1998 buick lesabre turn signals quit working ,tail lights out, brake lights ok. fuse for turn signals will blow as soon as you put one in. thanks

A direct short to ground like this is usually in the steering column, comming down from the switch. The wire rub against the housing & when the insulation wears through,it's a short.Disconnect the switch (at the base of the steering column) & see if the short goes away.If so,replace the turn signal switch. If not the problem is between the steering column & the exterior lamps.I would remove the bulbs or disconnect the exterior lamps to make sure the short is not a bulb or a lamp socket. After this the wiring must be inspected (visually) for the problem.
