1996 buick: battery cable get disconnected and since the car..rpm..ecu

Customer Question

I am having a problem with a 1996 buick le sabre ltd. I had a battery cable get disconnected and since the car's rpm's have been surging causing the car to violently jerk. I was told that this may be an ecu problem. I read that a fix for this is to locate the ecu and remove the prong with alcohol and leaving it unplugged while removing the battery cables and leaving them off for at least 30 minutes...this should scramble the ecu. The problem is that I cannot locate the ecu unit.
