Resolved Question:

If a torque converter requires replacing is it possible that the box can be damaged by metalic elements from the torque converter reaching the gear box?

Hello Jez,

The fluid in the torque converter is the same fluid circulated throught the transmission for lubrication and clutch application. If the torque converter was damaged the fluid circulated through the rest of the transmission and will require carefull inspecion and cleaning.
